“Seek to know your own heart, and, learning what it best loves, try to enjoy that.” --Mary Shelley
“Every time you get up and get back in the race one more small piece of you starts to fall into place.”--Racial Flats
“Thank your lucky star you’ve gotten this far and tell yourself how lucky you are!” – Dr. Seuss
Finding you is a never ending experience. For every moment you are either changed for the better, worse, or for somewhere in-between. Yet, it is important that you find you in all of these changes. Sometimes the change is very little, yet sometimes in an instant your world may crumble and your heart may be sliced open. It is in these times when you must maintain what you are to make it out of the slump.
Bad things happen. A wise man once said “if the world didn’t suck we would all float into outer space.” But it’s not what you have been through that defines you. It’s what you did to get over it. When loved ones part, when too much is required of you, when you’re alone and out and all you want to do is give up, when you’re in the eye of the storm and you can’t hold on much longer just stop. You are not alone. No one is truly alone. Not your friend, not your enemy, not you. Even if it seems like a vast pit of despair there is light up ahead. If there is none, create it.
My life must contain wind, trees, music, and rushing water, my loyal dog at my heels and the smell of dirt and foliage to calm my body so that my spirit may relax. This is my light that I create when all else fails me. When I am outside with the sun on my face and the trees dancing over head my heart begins to shake off the frost and my heart soars.
Look up! You’re obviously still alive, and to be reading this you have an educated brain on your shoulders. God is still watching out for you, whether you chose to look for that or not. You’ve gotten this far. What is holding you back? You are. Picking yourself back up is hard, but by picking yourself up you get stronger. Only you can do it, because only you know what you truly entail- if only you would look. Things aren’t going to change, granted. But think of the trial as a thrill. Something your heart can get mad about, shake off, and stand back up from the fall.
So when worst comes to worst, as we all know it will, rejoice and look inside you. Grow! You capabilities and possibilities are only defined by you. As you are the both the sculptor and the masterpiece, shaping who you are unavoidably tough, however, it’s worth it. Finding you is the foundation, changing is what makes you beautiful. Change in the best way possible, the way that will make you happiest.
You’re stuck with you so you might as well like who you become. So what if the most popular girl in school doesn’t like you, she isn’t with you twenty four seven and there will be people who do accept you just the way that you are. Follow your heart, because what else matters in this life if you aren’t happy? That’s my way of thinking anyways, and it has worked out for me so far.
